Newspapers

The simplest method for looking up current events is to examine the daily newspaper.

BUT -- What if your family does not subscribe to the local newspaper?  You can:

  • buy the day's newspaper at your local grocery, convenience store, or newsstand
  • search online for limited access (headlines and first paragraph) to the local daily newspaper's content
  • come to the library where several newspapers and magazines may be read (only! No cutting out articles!) during library hours.  Copy machines are available to make copies of any article of interest.

OR -- you can access the online editions of most major newspapers with your library card through NC Live:

The Charlotte Observer articles are only available in print and through online subscription.  The Gaston Gazette provides some free online content for local news.  The Gaston County Library subscribes to both newspapers, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.
